Pipes made of polymers (e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene) are widely used in water supply systems (drinking water and wastewater) and for industrial gas transportation. Modern single- and multilayer HDPE, PP and PE pipes are suitable for transporting gas and drinking water, and they can withstand strong mechanical stress. With additional protective layers, the service life of the system can be extended up to 100 years. A detection tape placed under the outer layer – made of aluminum, stainless steel or copper – enables precise identification of the pipeline route.
